Building my childhood dream...

About Me

I grew up in the 80's and like most kids of the time, I was enamored with video games. Mostly console games. My fascination with arcade games didn't come until a bit later. A kid in my 3rd grade class had his birthday party one year at what would be considered a knockoff Showbiz Pizza (or Chuck E. Cheese nowadays).. The Place was in Goose Creek, SC and it was called "Track Stars". When my older brother dropped me off I didn't know what to expect, I quickly realized I was in the coolest place a kid could be for the time. I don't remember any specific game from my first time at Track Stars. All I can remember was the atmosphere and learning how much fun an arcade could be. And so it began...
Throughout my life I've considered myself a gamer, as have those around me. But, the reality is...I probably play less games than the average XBOX or Playstation owner. In fact, the games from my youth continue to be the only ones that keep my interest. Sure modern gaming is fun, and doesn't even carry the stigma it once did, as my generation and the ones below me have grown up in a world where gaming is more commonplace. But there's something about "pick up and play" games that makes them so much more fun to me. So I have become an arcade collector. More on that story to come.
